Longtec & Shortec
Shortec is a brand name for immediate-release oxycodone, a strong opioid painkiller used to treat moderate to severe pain (such as postoperative or cancer pain). It is fast-acting, typically taking effect within 20 to 30 minutes, and is prescribed alongside long-acting painkillers
How it works: It belongs to a class of medications called opioids, which block pain signals in the central nervous system.
Usage: Usually prescribed for short-term pain relief, such as an “as needed” breakthrough medication in addition to slow-release opioids like Longtec.
Administration: Available as capsules and oral solutions, typically taken every 4 to 6 hours as directed by a healthcare provider.
